Three Upcoming Brews in April

April 2014 is a big month for the brewery at Fork & Brewer, featuring 3 beer releases. The first is a new style for us (Black Saison), and the others are seasonal to coincide with Easter (Chocolate Stout) and the Nelson hop harvest (Green hop Pale Ale). Lester our brewer has been a very busy man indeed!


BACK TO BLACK - Black Saison

The next beer Lester is releasing from our brewhouse upon Wellington is 'Back to Black', a Black Saison. Saison is an unusual and funky beer style which is quickly becoming popular among NZ craft beer drinkers. French and Belgian yeasts are combined to create the distinctive dry, clovey, phenolic particular to Saison beer. Lester has put a twist on the beer by adding dark malts and Guinea peppercorn to the mash. We will be launching Back to Black on Wednesday the 9th of April from 5pm.

EASTER EGG STOUT - Chocolate Stout

Easter! For some it's a welcomed holiday - a chance to have a few brewskis in the well-and-truly dying Summer. For others it's a chance to eat ALL THE CHOCOLATE THINGS!! For us it's an opportunity to combine the two = chocolate and beer! Our Easter Egg Stout has been flavoured with Columbian Cocoa nibs from the lovely folks at the Wellington Chocolate Factory on Eva/Leeds St, with a healthy dose of lactose to give our stout a creamy mouth feel. We will be presenting this salubrious beer to make even the staunchest beer taster salivate!

THE HOPSTEPPER - Green/Wet hopped IPA

Yesterday (26th March) Lester put down our Hopstepper fresh/green/wet hopped IPA! Hopstepper is brewed with US Cascade hops, and also Fresh Nelson Sauvin from this years harvest in Nelson. You'll be able to enjoy this beauty for the first time up at Fork and Brewer during Craft Beer Capital Hopstock, 23-26 April. Cheers to Fork & Brewer owner Sean, & manager Jono for giving Lester a hand with this brew!
